Taxi Review - Background
The Taxi Review was initiated in response to dissatisfaction among the taxi industry, public representatives and consumer organisations about how taxi services in Northern Ireland are provided within existing legislative and operational controls. One of the main areas of concern was the extent of illegal taxi activity.
The purpose of the Review was to examine how taxi services could be better regulated.
The objective of the Review has been to make recommendations aimed at creating a more effective and equitable regulatory framework, that promotes road and personal safety, improves accessibility and facilitates fair competition in the taxi and private hire services industry.
