Taxis

In Northern Ireland, regulation of the taxi industry is the responsibility of the Department of Environment (D O E).
Within the core Department, two branches — Driver, Vehicle and Operator Policy Branch (D V O P B) and Road Transport Regulation Review Branch (R T R R B) — deal with taxi regulation issues. D V O P B is responsible for on-going taxi policy and legislation issues. R T R R B has recently carried out a major review of taxi regulation in Northern Ireland
At agency level, Driver and Vehicle Licensing NI (DVLNI) licences taxi drivers and taxi vehicles while Driver and Vehicle Testing Agency (DVTA) takes the lead in vehicle testing and driver and vehicle enforcement.
These pages are designed to inform the taxi industry and everyone who uses taxi services about the taxi policies and legislation currently being developed by the Department including those resulting from the Taxi Review. — the Taxi Review.
