RS Working Groups

Working groups were established under the direction and control of the R.S.R.G. to ensure that the action measures in the Road Safety Strategy 2002-2012 are monitored and implemented on time and to provide, by way of exception reporting, updates to the R.S.R.G..  The Working groups are charged with responsibility for taking forward the 6 main elements of the Road Safety Strategy as follows: -
Working Group
Lead Official
Safer Children/Safety for Pedestrians and other Vulnerable Users
D.O.E.
Better Driver Training, Testing and Licensing
P.S.N.I.
Safer Roads Infrastructure
D.R.D. Roads Service
Safer Vehicles
D.O.E. /D.V.T.A.
Each Working Group has a lead official appointed from one of the 3 main agencies to take forward the work of the group and report to the R.S.R.G.
Each Working Group is to review all the actions of the measures for progress but their prime aim is to focus on the actions that will have a high impact on the K.S.I. targets in the Road Safety Strategy. Each working group is required to report, on an exception basis, to the R.S.R.G. tasked with identifying those measures which are problematic and those which are ahead of schedule/expectations.
