Motorcycles

The voluntary register of Approved Motorcycle Instructors has now been closed pending the introduction of the new statutory Register of Approved Motorcycle Instructors which will be operated by the Driver and Vehicle Agency.   In the meantime, those instructors who were listed as active on the voluntary register on 14 October 2009 may continue to use the term “DoE Approved”.   Regrettably, it will not be possible to add any more instructors to the voluntary register.   The new scheme is scheduled to open in late 2010.
As part of the preparations for the new statutory Approved Motorcycle Instructors scheme, a consultation has been carried out.   The consultation is now closed: however, the proposals can be viewed at the link below;

TO BE NOTED:

It should be noted that there is no legal requirement, for anyone who wishes to charge (either money or monies worth) for giving instruction on riding a motorcycle, to be an Approved Motorcycle Instructor.
