Freedom of InformationThe Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulations
2004 (EIR) give you the right (with some exclusions) to ask for all types of information held by a public
authority
You have the right to be told whether a public authority holds the information you
want, the right to access it (and if possible in the way you requested e.g. copy), subject to some exemptions
(FOI) and/or exceptions (EIRs). If you do not receive the information, there are also arrangements for
enforcement and appeal.
Road Safety Division is part of the Department of the Environment, which
is a Public Authority, and will reply to Requests for Information. We are also in the process of publishing
and making accessible all relevant documents.
More about FOI, the legislation and the departmental publication scheme can be found
on the DoE FOI site.
