All drivers should carry out daily checks on their vehicles e.g.

- Lights and Indicators - check they are all in working order and clean if necessary
- Windscreen - check that it is clean and that the washer bottle is filled
- Brakes - as soon as the vehicle moves, test to check that brakes are working properly.
- Fuel- is there sufficient fuel for the journey ahead
- Loads - all loads must be secure e.g. check roof rack and boot
Regular checks and routine maintenance should be carried out as recommended in the driver's manual which usually comes with the car.
