MVRUS - Syllabus

The CCEA Opens new Window (Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment) supplies the syllabus for the subject area.To view the entire syllabus, view the CCEA Web Page. The syllabus shows that a pupil is required to work across three areas.
  • Practical riding test .......Marks 20%
  • Investigative study coursework......Marks 20%
  • Theory Paper .......Marks 60%
Moped riding requires approximately 20% of the total time available and is best delivered in concentrated blocks.
The investigative study involves approximately 20% of class time and can be completed at any time during the course at the teacher's discretion.
The theory test is divided into 6 areas of study, as follows:
  1. Vehicle control / road user behaviour
  2. Legal requirements
  3. Evolution of road transport and its effects on society
  4. Motoring Mathematics
  5. Accident procedures
  6. Motor vehicle technology
