Advice for Cyclists
- Always use cycle routes where available;
- Before moving off, look over your right shoulder, give a clear signal with your right arm and look again. Always give good clear arm signals to show what you intend to do and always look ahead and behind for traffic and other dangers;
- Obey all traffic signs, signals and road markings;
- Ride in single file on narrow or busy roads, and never more than two abreast at any time;
- Ensure clothing or other items do not get tangled up in the wheels or chain;
- Never wear an mp3/ipod or use a mobile phone when cycling;
- A bell is a legal requirement and should be in good working order;
