Bus Safety

The majority of school bus related accidents happen to children soon after they leave the bus

Make sure your child knows:

  • to STOP, LOOK and, LISTEN before they cross any road.
  • that they should stay on the footpath or the verge until the bus has moved far away.
  • to act sensibly on and around school buses.
  • about the dangers of traffic being hidden from their view by the school bus.
  • NEVER to cross the road IN FRONT of the bus.

Remember that as a PARENT OR GUARDIAN YOU HAVE RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • young children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • children develop at different rates and only YOU can decide when your child is ready to move from the basic training of Stop, Look and Listen to the Green Cross Code.
