School Bus TransportIn Northern Ireland there are three Government Departments with a role in the provision and regulation of school bus transport. These are - the Department of the Environment (D O E) which regulates and enforces school bus safety; the Department of Education (D E) which provides transport to and from school for those children who meet the set eligibility criteria; and the Department for Regional Development (D R D) which has overall responsibility for public transport policy and planning in Northern Ireland.
D O E has completed a high level economic appraisal of the four key recommendations of the NI Assembly inquiry into home to school transport and a report detailing progress on all 28 recommendations.
